ABOUT THIS BLOG

This blog and associated pages are devoted to exploring the ancestry of my great-grandparents, Nelson Hyder (1875-1959) and Lucy Jane Bentley Hyder (1875-1948). This includes such surnames as Bean, Bentley, Booth, Culbertson, Elkins, Howard, Robertson, Russell, and Wells. These families lived in the Appalachian region of America where Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee meet, and their ancestors migrated primarily from the British Isles and Germany in the 17th and 18th centuries.
